The internship is intended to offer a university post-graduate level student the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to the work of the UNDP Timor-Leste, and in particular of the Governance Unit, Project “Support to Institutional Development of Oe-Cusse Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the Special Zone of Social Market Economy (ZEESM)” Oe-Cusse, Timor-Leste. It aims to complement the study of the intern with practical experience in various aspects of the work of UNDP Timor-Leste’s in Governance Unit. Providing an opportunity to make substantive contributions to an office’s work is an essential requirement of offices taking on interns.
Under the direct supervision of Project Manager and Regional Secretary for Community Tourism, Oe-Cusse, the intern will support UNDP Timor-Leste programme in project implementation through stocktaking legends, myths and archeological sites of Oe-Cusse region in Timor-Leste. The identified content will later be utilized as one of the assets for tourism development. The intern will focus on the following tasks:
- Stock take legends, myths and list archeological sites of Oe-Cusse region in Timor-Leste;
- Stock take the information, stories, photographs (geo-location) and short videos and compile it in one comprehensive database/document;
- Conduct project field visits to take videos and photos on project activities;
- Support in writing content and convert collected info into reader friendly material for future tourist guides;
- Support the team by actively engaging in field visits and working with communities;
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as requested.

Payment:
The internship does not pay for internship. Costs associated with the internship must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the individual, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements for travel, accommodation etc.
Career Opportunities:
The purpose of internship is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an intern’s studies. However, a number of interns, having completed their studies and met the necessary requirements, have gone on to further assignments in the United Nations system through success in competitive recruitment process after their internship programme ended.

(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
