Vacancy for Senior Project Officer at ADB in Pakistan
Asian Development Bank (ADB) is an international development finance institution headquartered in Manila, Philippines and is composed of 67 members, 48 of which are from the Asia and Pacific region. ADB’s mission is to reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic growth in the region. ADB’s main instruments for helping its developing member countries are policy dialogue, loans, equity investments, guarantees, grants, and technical assistance.
The position is assigned in the Pakistan Resident Mission (PRM) within the Central and West Asia Department (CWRD). CWRD is responsible for maintaining client relations and delivering ADB assistance to countries in the Central and West Asia region. PRM works closely with government agencies, development partners, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate the successful formulation, processing, administration and monitoring of ADB-financed loan and technical assistance (TA) projects.
Job Purpose:
The Senior Project Officer leads loan and TA administration associated with ADB’s portfolio particularly related to the urban development and disaster risk management projects and related operations and supports PRM’s relevant country portfolio management activities, including managing social sector projects such as health and education. The position will report to the Designated International Staff and will supervise administrative staff as may be assigned.
Eligibilities
- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, preferably with Master’s Degree or equivalent
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in project management, procurement and implementation; and at least 4 years of supervisory experience
- At least 4 years of experience in the urban sector and disaster risk management. Experience in the social sectors such as health and education will be an added advantage.
- Experience and knowledge of various stages of the project cycle (project planning / feasibility analysis / detailed design / project implementation / construction supervision / contract management) is desirable
- Sound knowledge of government administrative systems and procedures
Familiarity with accepted best practices of procurement and disbursement processes - Able to mentor junior National Staff and Administrative Staff to facilitate work planning, delivery and quality review
- Able to liaise and work effectively with government officials within own work location
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
