APRIL 20, 2018 - As of 6:37 PM, COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez stated in a post from his Twitter account: "In view of the National Youth Commission's expressed concern that the number of candidacies filed, over the entire period of filing COCs, would fall short of the 338, 584 Sangguniang Kabataan positions to be voted on in #BSKE2018, and with similar concerns being raised with regard to the number of COCs filed for the Barangay elections, the Commission en banc today rodered the extension of the period to file COCs, from 20 April, to 21 April 2018."
COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon also posted on her Twitter account: "EXTENDED filing of COC for Brgy and SK candidates extended until tomorrow at 5PM."
Mr. Jimenez added that COMELEC offices are open tomorrow [Saturday] from 8AM-5PM to accept COCS for those who wish to run for Barangay and SK positions.
Also according to COMELEC, as of 3:30 PM of Friday [April 20, 2018], there are 587,042 recorded COCs filed for the Barangay elections, and 272,047 for the Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
